Life Coaching & Mentoring
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Mentoring is the process of helping and guiding another person through their personal and / or professional development.
Since mentoring can involve sharing advice and personal opinion (where coaching doesn’t), I take on mentoring clients whose objectives reflect my own personal experience.
-
Life Coaching is a form of talking therapy. It is outcome-focused and I work with my clients to establish clear objectives and work towards achieving them. I provide a non-judgemental space in which to work through personal and professional challenges in order to reach a desirable outcome.
-
Each coaching and mentoring relationship starts with a consultation. We will discuss your objectives and make sure that any questions you have about the process are answered and you feel confident before booking.
You will be guided every step of the way through your time working with me, but each session is your space.
-
Confidentiality is essential to any relationship within talking therapy. Whatever is discussed in my private coaching sessions remains between me and my client. This is a contractual agreement* which allows clients to speak freely and broach sensitive subjects and experiences.
*Subject to industry standard safeguarding guidelines which are in place to protect individual and public safety.

Typically a 1:1 session is 55 minutes long. In some cases a longer session might be appropriate (or a client may request one) in which case we can discuss extending that time slot.
-
A typical coaching programme is made up of 6 sessions before we review progress. This allows time to establish a connection, build context and work towards your objectives. Some people like to speak on an ongoing basis and that is perfectly fine.
Any responsible talking therapist will encourage a client to review their motivation for continuing sessions once initial objectives have been met.
-
The regularity with which I meet my clients can be discussed before we begin and can also be reviewed at any point. Weekly sessions are often helpful for specific objectives but some people like to check in with me once a fortnight or once a month.
-
This is a very personal decision and we will discuss it before we begin. I am happy to meet clients face to face (if appropriate), over the phone or via video call. All 3 methods can be very effective.
-
In a word, anybody who is struggling to think clearly about what they want, the direction in which they are heading or the way in which they are heading there can benefit hugely from coaching sessions.
-
During our introductory consultation, I will ask you about your objectives for seeing a coach. If I feel that you would benefit by seeing a different type of therapist, I will discuss this with you.
Psychotherapists and counsellors can help you with any trauma, mental health problems or negative feelings which have begun to dictate the way you live.
-
Strangely enough, anybody can call themselves a life coach! However, I believe that accredited training is essential. I qualified as a Transformational Coach with Animas Coaching, which is a fully ICF-accredited training organisation.
-
A 55 minute private coaching session with me is £90. This fee may rise if I am meeting a client in person.
Wherever possible, I aim to be inclusive and accessible to clients who need support. Please contact me if you are unable to fund the full cost of these sessions.
All sessions are payable in advance via bank transfer and subject to cancellation fees.
-
If you need to cancel a private coaching session with more than 24 hours’ notice then I am happy to rearrange for a more convenient time.
If you cancel a session with less than 24 hours notice I ask for a cancellation fee of 50% of the session’s original fee. This is to cover costs and lost bookings my end. Certain exceptions may apply to short notice cancellations.
